Glam Party #4

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I took the entire week off to spend with my husband to celebrate our one year anniversary. We had a great time just being alone together for once. We also enjoyed time with our families for Thanksgiving.

Cody's cousin, Christina, is pregnant with triplets. They are having two girls and a boy. As many of you know, I make tutu's and have recently started making baby legs. I am going to make the identical twin girls tutus, but I have no idea what to make for the boy. So I am especially interested in tutorials for baby boys so please link up if you have some ideas for me! I need to get to working on some cute ideas for them. Also, if you just happen to have any fun ideas for a set of triplets!! :)

Here are my top 2 favorites from last weeks glam party!!

I love the Christmas Wreath that My Happiness Experiment posted.

I actually typically hate wreaths so this is kind of a big deal! :) I should say that my house is decorated in all black & silver for the holidays with an occasional dash of red. I love the idea of making this wreath in all black & silver!! I should also add that I have the word "JOY" all over my house during the holidays so it's fitting that I would love this wreath.

I love these Tissue Paper Christmas Trees from Spunky Junky

I am a big saver of tissue paper so this is such a fun idea for me. Again, I only decorate in black & silver so my trees would be made in those colors but the vision I have for them in my head is great and I want to make them. Hopefully I will get to them this year.

I love all the wonderful things you guys keep posting so keep them coming!

I am curious to what you have been up to, so anything goes on this linky party!
It's your turn to shine so show me what you've got whether it be something hand-made, a recipe, a tutorial, a giveaway or even your etsy shop!
Can't wait to see what you have to share.

Song...

30 Day Challenge
Day 30

Your favorite song...

My favorite song is mine & Cody's song so I copied this straight from our wedding website.

Then by Brad Paisley

Let me tell you a little bit about our song, Then. When we first started dating I(Jana) changed Cody's ring tone to My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson. It's true...my life would have sucked without Cody, but the rest of the lyrics didn't make much sense for our relationship. We had been talking about how we needed a song and had joked about how the next song on the radio would be our song, but it was some dumb song about something completely unrelated to love.

We were driving in the car one day and I heard Then for the first time. As I listened to the lyrics, I fell in love with the song and thought it was the perfect song for me and Cody. Our relationship was still fresh and I didn't want to say anything for fear of...the unknown. So instead, I googled the lyrics on my cell phone and left them up so I could hear the song again. I got home that evening and read the lyrics to the song and absolutely loved it but had no idea how I could go about making a song I loved our song.

I had given Cody a notebook for us to write letters, prayers, quotes, lyrics and the like in it so that we would have that to show our children some day. Cody gave me the notebook and I found the lyrics to the song Then written within its pages. Cody had heard the song that same night and paid special attention to it. It truly was the perfect song for us. We have fallen in love rather quickly and so this song has been perfect for us as we thought we loved each other...then.

Here's the lyrics:

I remember, trying not to stare the night that I first met you
You had me mesmerized
And three weeks later, in the front porch light
taking forty-five minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
but I thought I loved you then

Chorus

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

And i remember, taking you back to right where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didn't care
Got down on one knee right there once again,
I thought I loved you then

Chorus

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

I could just see you, with a baby on the way
And I could just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

New Knowledge

30 Day Challenge
Day 29

In this past month, what have you learned?

I have learned that I need to learn to let go of control and allow God to write my story without trying to control my circumstances. I have seen a pattern of me constantly trying to control my circumstances as if that really goes well for me. I know that I need to learn this lesson, but something about it makes it so difficult for me. It's easy for me to let go of some things but others things I have such a tight grip on. I need to learn to be open fisted about my life!

God has been teaching me a lot about my sin in general. Helps that I am going through the book, Respectable Sins, with my mentor.

Hoo Am I?

1. Name 5 things you are grateful for:

My husband of one year!
A job that I love.
My family including the wonderful family I married into.
Great friends!
And most importantly, my Savior!

2. What is you favorite dish at Thanksgiving dinner?

My favorite thing is Deviled Eggs so I am always the one to make them now that we are married because no one in his family makes them.

3. Do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving?

Not really. Thanksgiving hasn't been the same since my sister got married and my Grandparents died. Last year we got back from our honeymoon Thanksgiving night so that put a damper on creating new traditions.

One side of Cody's family all goes to visit his Memaw the day after Thanksgiving but we can't make it this year because we will be celebrating our Anniversary.

We will spend Thanksgiving lunch with one side of Cody's family! Cody, his dad and his brother will be running a 5K in the Turkey Trot and his sister will be running the 10K. Maybe next year the rest of us will do it too to make a fun family tradition. There was no way I was prepared for that this year!

My parents took us to lunch today for our Anniversary & Thanksgiving which was such a blessing. It will be weird to not be with them on Thanksgiving day, but today was very enjoyable!

4. Are you staying home or traveling for Thanksgiving?

We will be going to Cody's aunts but it's only 30 minutes away so it's not far.

5. What else do you do on Thanksgiving day besides eat?

I hear Cody's family watches football which makes me want to jump off a cliff. My family plays lots of games and then pulls out the Christmas decor the next morning. Not so sure what to expect from this year.

Glam Party #3

Excited to link up with you again this week. This week I chose my top 2 favorites! I never knew how hard it would be to choose favorites!

I love Santa's Magic Key from over at Crafts with a Side of You

I think it's a great idea for those who may not have a fireplace for Christmas. It also super cute which makes it even better. An added bonus, it's small enough that if you needed to take it with you on vacation then you could. Great idea!

I also love this cute Reversible Bag from Pocket Full of Pink!

I have been looking for a fun bag like this to make so I am stoked about trying it out. Hopefully I will be able to get on this soon. Not to mention I love that it's reversible!!

I am curious to what you have been up to, so anything goes on this linky party!

Favorite Tutu

Had to share another tutu with you! I promise I will start to make stuff other than tutu's eventually. I am absolutely in love with this tutu so I had to share it with you. It was just created out of the tulle and ribbon I had left over from other tutus. Turns out it's one of my favorite!

It would be perfect for a One Year Birthday Tutu!! :)

It doesn't help that I was running and trying to get into some shape for the wedding. Thankful I didn't go overboard and get real skinny! I'm an average girl not a tiny girl! These photos are exactly a year apart since yesterday was our Anniversary it is from our wedding and then our celebration last night!

Day 27

Why you are doing this 30 day challenge...

I tend to really enjoy little surveys and questionnaires. Plus as a new blogger in the crafting world I wanted to allow my readers to get to know me a little beyond what I like to craft.

On a side note, today is my One Year Anniversary! This has been an incredible year and I absolutely love my husband. Last night we stayed at a Bed & Breakfast for a Murder Mystery dinner. Then this morning we drove down to my sister's to see my niece dedicated at church and spent the afternoon with family. We had a great time!

Now we are off to one of my favorite restaurants for fajitas and ritas to celebrate this year. Afterwards we will sit on the porch in front of the fire and enjoy being with each other!

Mom & Dad

30 Day Challenge
Day 24

A letter to your parents...
Dear Mom & Dad,
I can't even begin to express how grateful I am to have the parents that I do. I am especially grateful to you for modeling to your children that marriage is forever. I feel so honored and blessed to be able to say that my parents have been married for as long as they have.
Thank you for always believing in me in whatever adventures I have dove into! Whether it be gymnastics, ballet, dance, track, college, grad school, and on the list could go. You have always been an encouragement in my life through my pursuits. Thanks for trusting that I could succeed at whatever I put my mind to.
Thank you for your unconditional love for me. I have no doubt in my mind that you do not love me and can rest in the fact that if I mess up your arms are open and ready to love me regardless. You have exemplified Christ's love for me by your gracious love. I am blessed beyond measure!
Aside from all the sweet sentimental things I have listed above, I love you becuase I enjoy your company. I love going to dinner and laughing about whatever random thing Dad pokes at that cause mom & I to die laughing. I love that we play games together as a family over the holidays. Okay, so I love that mom plays games with us and occasionally we can sucker dad into a game or two. However, I am thankful that we always find a way to entertain ourselves in car rides by playing games. I have so many sweet & happy memories of our family.
Thanks Mom & Dad! I love you both!

Differences.

30 Day Challenge
Day 22

What makes you different from everyone else...

This one has been really hard for me to answer as I don't really know what exactly sets me apart from others. I think of something and then I realize I know some people like that. So I guess I have a list of things that set me apart from different people.

I believe that Jesus Christ died for me regardless of how sinful he knew I would be. I think that sets me apart even though he did this for everyone. It sure makes me feel mighty special!

I have a special gift of encouragement that I believe God blessed me with. I love to edify and lift up others in whatever way possible.

I believe myself to be a Jack of all Trades. At one point in time a couple years ago I was work 4-5 part-time jobs trying to meet my financial demands. I kind of feel that it makes me special that I can do many different jobs and don't just have one specific skill set.

Okay maybe none of that makes me different...whatever.

Glam Party #2

Last week was my very first Glam Party, linky party! It was very hard for me to choose someone to feature this week, but I decided to go with The Clumsy Spider for her Simple Autumn Valence.

I have been wanting to redecorate my home so this specific tutorial is super beneficial for me and is something I am very interested in doing. I will be sure to show all of you when I finally get around to it. I need to find the perfect fabric which knowing me will take a very long time!

Just Call Me Angel...

30 Day Challenge
Day 19

Nicknames you have and why you have them...

The one that is most commonly used is Banana and it really has no significance other than it rhymes with my first name, Jana. I have been called Jana Banana most of my life!

My sister calls me Jan, but she is the only person that is allowed to call me that. I would hate it if anyone else called me that, but it's so endearing when she says it.

My friend, Arielle, calls me JB which was the initials of my maiden name. I love it when she calls me that, but again she is the only one that says it.

I went by Chiquita in high school which came from the Banana nickname. One friend in particular called me, Jana Chiquita Banana Bush's Baked Beans. (Last name was Bush)

My favorite of all would have been Little Toot which is what my Uncle Toot called me. I think it's my favorite because he is no longer with us so it reminds me of all the happy memories I had of him!

30 Day Challenge
Day 18

Plans/dreams/goals you have...

In the immediate future, my plans are to continue making many tutus and other items which I am unsure what they will be at this time. My friend and I are hoping to go to craft shows together and I want to have more than just my tutus to sell. Also, I want to make some fun things for my sweet little niece.

I started my own business so that I will have enough money generating that I can do this "full-time" while I am a stay-at-home mom. Our desire is to have children and I deeply desire to stay-at-home so I started my business in hopes to make that possible easing my mind a little with bringing in some extra income. Hoping all goes well!

More Pillowcase Dresses

We had a sewing night again last night for The Pillowcase Project to send dresses to orphans in Kampala, Uganda. Today we decided to count how many we have made so far and we are currently at 76 dresses with only 324 dress left! It would probably be beneficial to make skirts for like 50 of the girls instead of dresses, but I don't know if I am ready for that task just yet. I haven't made a skirt. Please feel free to direct me to some easy tutorials.

I spoke with my boss today about what we are going to do for the 600 boys in our village and she said it might be better for us to pay some of the women in Uganda to make shorts for the boys. It would only cost us about $1.50 a pair of shorts and we would be helping widows provide care for their families. Sounds pretty promising to me. Very exciting!

If you are interested in helping with The Pillowcase Project please email me at gigglesglitzandglam@gmail.com!

We are currently partnering with Christian Life Ministries & Jackson Senyonga to provide dresses for kids in the Seeta & Lira orphan villages. For more information, visit Jackson Senyonga's blog regarding the project.

1. Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at.

I consider myself to be a pretty good friend and a good cook!

2. Name two things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

I am horrible at eating healthy and working out. I get so motivated and then fail miserably. I do good for like two week max...

3. Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

I do believe that everything happens for a reason as I know that God has a very specific plan for our lives. I may not like everything but I know it's probably for the best.

4. What is something you have eaten lately that you shouldn't have?

The loads of candy that my husband brought home from work. He works for a movie company and gets a lot of the vendors candy so I have a drawer full of delicious candy that I can't seem to stop eating. I'm going to weight 100 extra pounds in no time.

5. Do you think the time should change or leave it alone?

I really wish it would just be left alone. I get so thrown off. I am having the hardest time not wanting to curl in bed at 9:30!!

Community

30 Day Challenge
Day 9

Something you're proud of in the past few days...

I am proud of the home group that I have become involved in recently. I will be honest in saying it's often hard to find good friends that really do life together, walking along side one another and truly being deeply involved in each others lives. I find it easy to volunteer to help out a new mom so that she can rest, let a friend borrow a car, throw a party for a friend who has never had a birthday party becuase her birthday is Christmas day, to take someone to the doctor because they have a flat and so on and so on. This comes easy to me and I find great joy in it. I have been discouraged in years past when I've realized I've done a lot for others, but when I've needed someone there was no one around aside from my family of course. This kind of thing does not necessarily come natural to all, but I think it's what the church body should really look like. I believe that's what living in community with one another is all about.

Recently, I have seen this displayed in many ways in our home group. We traded cars with another couple because they needed to make a trip or two to the hardware store. All the while, another couple decided to let a couple borrow their spare car as Grandma would be using on of their vehicles to take care of the kids while mom had new training at work and dad had school. The ladies stepped up to throw a baby shower for one of the girls who will be a new mom soon and she doesn't know a lot of people in the area as they just moved here. I constantly over hear people offering to help out with the kids of another couple or volunteer to dog sit so someone doesn't have to board their dogs. It's been such an encoruagement to watch everyone come together and love on each other the way I believe God has called us to. God has blessed us beyond measure in this homegroup!
So with all that said, I am proud of our homegroup!!

Hoo Am I?

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?

I was working at a daycare in college and we were not supposed to wear flip flops to work. I happened to wear flip flops to work on this particular day. We were out on the playground and I was playing "football" with one of my two year old boys. He threw the ball and I went to catch it...where the sand met the concrete it was slippery with flip flops. So I flew up in the air and landed right on my tail end. It was so painful! I went into the building and laid flat on my face because I was so much fun. I ended up going home early that day...and yes I hurt my pride too.

2. What would you name your next child or if you don't have any your first child?

I don't mind telling people normally, but I think I'd rather save it for now. I really don't want a lot of this name running around.

3. If you could add one feature to your car, what would you choose?

Auto-start so that I could heat or cool my car. This would be so awesome! I will for sure have it on my next car!!

4. If you named your house (or car or computer) what would you name it?

I have really only named one car I've driven and it was just a temporary drive too. I called her Lola, my low rider. She was a Lumina. I have a hard time naming objects like that so this is all I have.

5. What is your dream occupation?

I want to be a stay-at-home mom! But until I have children I absolutely love what I do. I am currently the Head of the Orphan Department for an organization that cares for 1,000 orphans in Kampala, Uganda. Once I have children that are elementary aged I think it would be awesome to own a boutique.

I hope to make several Christmas gifts this year instead of purchasing them. But on that note I also hope to start my Christmas shopping and get as most of it done as possible.

GeeMa

30 Day Challenge
Day 7

A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you...

Aside from it being Jesus Christ which is my obvious answer as He is the reason I am alive and He is the reason for how I live. I would have to say that my GeeMa is the person that has had the biggest impact on my life.

Before my Grandma passed away in 2003 I had always talked about how I would love for her to be standing next to my sister as a Matron of Honor. I had grown so close to her during my college years and felt it would be an honor to have her next to me during my wedding! My GeeMa was an amazing woman who I hope to model. She was an amazing Wife, Mom, Sister and Grandmother.
