Hey Everyone! I am excited to bring to you another glamorous find this Thursday. Let's welcome Ashley Carter to my blog and check out what she's all about. Her shops are both amazing and she turns around and gives back with what she earns! If you've been following me long, then you know that I love to support organizations & companies that give back. Check out those from my old posts: Gifts that give back!
Hey there! I'm Ashley Carter, I'm the gal behind Ashley Carter Designs and the owner of a little fabric shop, My Little Sunshine. I am the wife of a handsome military man, who I roam the country with as we go wherever the Air Force sends us. You can check out the latest in our lives over at our blog The Carter Casa. It makes for quite an adventurous marriage & I am so thankful for the accommodation that Etsy provides for our transient lifestyle. I love that I can take my shop & products with me wherever I go! Also about me: I love anything to do with: coffee, nutrition, Jesus, community, and crafting!
Beautiful Jana let me have free reign of her blog for the day so I thought I would give you a little insight into the heartbeat behind my craft. I have always loved being creative, keeping my hands busy on one project or another, and when it became feasible for me to actually do what I love for a living (what a novel idea, right?) I really wanted to make sure that my business was fulfilling a higher purpose.

Don’t get me wrong, the feeling of knowing you are bringing joy to a customer’s face with your handiwork is WONDERFUL, but I wanted the span of my work to reach a little bit further. Shortly after mulling over these things, I was able to get in contact with a wonderful organization in Haiti, called Heartline Ministries. I have friends that actually work alongside this organization in Haiti, so I can tell you with great confidence that they are legit. The people of Heartline work with the women and children in the community of Port au Prince to provide them with a safe place to learn about Jesus and to adopt life-skills that will translate into real-world jobs, keeping these women off the streets! And it gets better. Guess what one of the life-skills is that these women are taught? SEWING! I love the idea of supporting other women to learn to do a trade that has become such a joyful part of my own life. Heartline gives these women an opportunity that most women in Haiti do not have---they equip them with the means to survive and not just that but to enjoy life.

Needless to say, I quickly developed a MAJOR crush on this organization and knew that my business HAD to be a part of what they were doing! That’s why when you shop with Ashley Carter Designs or My Little Sunshine Fabric, not only are you getting some really cute stuff, but your moolah is going to help women learn to sew in Haiti! 15% of the profits of both of my businesses go toward Heartline Ministries. If handmade business isn’t exciting enough, that definitely is.
I encourage you to check them out, I promise you will be encouraged by all the amazing things they are doing in Haiti.
