Happy to introduce to you today, Karen from Believe it and Be Satisfied! I share a heart with her for adoption and for being a mother. I gave her free reign over my blog so she is sharing with you from the bottom of her heart. Leave some love!!

Hi "Giggles, Glitz & Glam" readers... my name is Karen, from "Believe it... and BE Satisfied", and I'm so excited to be guest posting over here for Jana today. When given "free reign" as to what to blog about, I thought about gracing you with a tutorial, or a recipe, or charm you with some beautiful photographs.... but, I decided to steer away from the "normal"... because that is so NOT me... and I've decided to share a little bit about what's been going on in my life, on my side of the globe (yup, I'm over in Asia... S. Korea to be specific!)

The hubby and I arrived in S. Korea over a year ago (before that we lived in Germany-it's quite the life as an Air Force wife!) and started our 3 year adventure living on the "other side of the globe"... but at that time, we embarked on another adventure.. the adventure that comes along with ADOPTION. From finally deciding to "go for it" (we've been trying to have kids for awhile-and have had 2 miscarriages), to actually finding an agency who will work with military overseas, to choosing which country we wanted a child(ren) from, and then deciding which age/gender we wanted the child(ren) to be... it has been a CRAZY adventure.
If it hadn't been for my faith, I'm not quite sure if we'd be in the final end stages of this adoption. There were PLENTY of times where I just threw my hands up in the air, and wanted to wave my white surrender flag. Times where I thought, "This is just not supposed to happen... how will it ever get done?" It just felt too tough... I was drained.
So much paperwork... stack after stack... notarization after notarization... apostille after apostille (yes, I had no idea what that was, until this journey...it's a "fancy" authentication of a notarization)...

But I was reminded of Psalm 10:14, 17-18 many times:
"You are the helper of the fatherless. Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear, To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more."
as well as Hebrews 13:5:
"I will never leave you nor forsake you."
What I realized many months ago, and have had to tell myself over and over again.. is that it's not about ME...
Friends, I truly want you to know that I learned something along the way... something that I want to share with you, and maybe you'll find it helpful in whatever "place" you are right now. It doesn't just "fit" my story of adoption... it can "fit" any struggle/hurdle your facing right now... and that is: It's okay to wave that white flag of surrender... as long as you're waving it to yourself. Waving it high, and letting go of the control you have over the situation. You see... it's so much easier to just give it all to God, and to let Him be STRONG for you.

Letting go of it... giving it all to Him, has allowed me to ENJOY this adoption process (totally wish I learned this sooner). We're finally at the end stages, our HUGE stack of paperwork will be processed and registered in Ukraine at the end of this month (March 31). I'm finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel... finally realizing I'll be a mother soon.
