A couple of weeks ago I mentioned we were on a lightweight stroller search and I was leaning heavily towards the Baby Jogger 2012 City Mini Single Stroller.
I had seen the B-Agile in stores and it looks darn similar to the City Mini.
I got two excellent reviews from friends which is always a plus, but wanted to really see some of the differences. I decided to watch the Stroller Guru's videos on the two. I watched her first video of the Britax B-Agile vs. the 2011 Baby Jogger City Mini and was sold on the Britax. I got on amazon to discover the Britax B-Agile Stroller, Red
was only $188.99 vs $249.99 for the City Mini. Granted the B-Agile is listed on sale, but still that's a great price for an excellent stroller. We can get the City Micro at Target for $199.99 so I was still hesitant. Some of the complaints on the Stroller Guru's video on the City Mini sounded to me as if it was the 2011 City Mini so I wanted to see what she had to say about the improvements on the 2012 City Mini. So I watched her video 2012 Baby Jogger City Mini vs Britax B-Agile where she showed a huge preference for the City Mini. Her opinions suddenly meant nothing to me because she went from being a HUGE fan of the B-Agile to not really seeming to care for it as much in the 2nd video. Maybe she's being influenced by a little $$$ because some of the features she said she loved in the first video were no longer important the 2nd time around. But I did enjoy getting to really watch the differences in the two strollers.
Honestly, I think both are excellent products and very well made. There are obviously things that each one has better than the other. I like that the handle on the City Mini seems a little more protective with a thick rubber like protectant, I'm not sure what you'd say that Agile has but it's just not as thick and could come apart easier. I like that the Agile doesn't have a bar across the bottom which means you don't kick it when you walk which is a major complaint on the City Mini. You can watch the two videos to see all the differences, but when it comes down to it I think the Agile is the way we will go because a) I can get it cheaper and b) they have EXCELLENT customer service.
These opinions are all my own & are part of my own research of the two products. I just want to try to make it easier for you in your search. I'll let you know for sure what we went with next week, but I'm heavily leaning towards the Britax B-Agile.
**UPDATE MARCH 2013: We bought the Britax B-Agile and I LOVE IT!! I am so happy with my purchase and have absolutely no regrets. Sometimes the lock sticks, but overall it's not a big deal and would not alter my opinion at all. I would buy this stroller again if I had to.**

I wanted an Uppa Baby more than anything - and got it. My mom wanted an easy, all terrain, grandmother stroller and she got a City Mini. AND I'm SO JEALOUS!!! It's easy to use, easy to store, easy to travel with - in fact when we travel we borrow it and several gate-check agents have told us it's their favorite in respect to folding/unfolding!
ReplyDeleteMy friend let me borrow her City Mini for a week & I really liked it. I wish I could borrow someones Agile for a week too. I especially love the one handed driving but you can get that with both. We currently just have a little Chicco c6 but I really want a GOOD shade! :)
DeleteI say go with the Britax! It's way cheaper {you can get it at Buy Buy Baby for 20% off with a Bed Bath & Beyond coupon too!}, and both strollers are so similar...so really it comes down to price. I have the B-Ready and B-Nimble and I think I will always choose britax over anything else!
ReplyDeleteI know this doesn't really answer your question, but this is my input: I have the Baby Jogger City Select with doubles kit. I LOVE the stroller. It moves so quickly, and I'm even able to turn it around easily with one hand while there are two children in it. But, we've had it for just about 10 months and there is already a rip in the under basket plus the rubber "Baby Jogger" tag is ripped on the side of one of the seats. We haven't used the stroller a lot and we treat it very easily since we paid so much for it and always had intentions to re-sell it. I have yet to contact the company about the issue, so I can't say anything about their customer service, but I plan to contact them soon about repairs.
