Spring Time

Spring Time is my absolute favorite time of year & I am liking it even more this year with my beautiful baby girl. I try to get out of the house at least once a day even if all we do is sit on the front porch. We sit on the porch & Emily stares off into the bright green grass. It's therapeutic for both of us. Normally there isn't much going on around our neighborhood so we just stare at the grass & try to keep from getting attacked by the bugs.

Other fun spring activities? This week we've also taken a couple of walks to the park and back. We also visited the Dallas Arboretum & had photos taken of Emily which will be coming soon. We enjoy the beautiful weather & gorgeous flowers for the afternoon. I am a little fearful that these warmer temps this early in the year will mean this Texas summer is going to be a scorcher, but am hoping otherwise. I want to walk off this baby weight & that will be very difficult if it's 105 like it was last year.

What are you doing to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather?

Blue Bonnets

We went to take blue bonnets of Miss Emily this weekend. Let's just say it didn't go as well as planned, but I got a couple shots I will enjoy. We are going to get family pictures in the blue bonnets Easter weekend so hopefully those turn out better. I really need to take a photography & editing class so I can really learn to use my camera.

Between photos we made sure to stay in the shade to protect sweet baby girls skin.

Great Deals

I am all about great deals. I'm subscribed to so many daily deal sites it's not funny. It seems as thought lately a lot of them haven't been as good as they were a year ago which is sad because I could use a good restaurant at 50% off, come on groupon get a deal for a place I've been dying to eat!!! Since I am all about a good deal I can't help but share a few good ones I've found today. Great deals on things mommies need or maybe even want ;)

This site is a new one for me, Keekoo. It's products for expectant moms and moms of newborns. Who can't use a good deal during that phase of life? I bought these cute ruffle bloomers today because I have a slight obsession with ruffles on the butt. But they have some other great deals still going on like a nursing pillow or even a stroller!! Check it out, Keekoo!

Okay and here is another one I just discovered too, baby steals. This morning they have cloth diapers for 45% off which isn't something I need but yesterday morning they had an ERGO baby. I wish I hadn't already purchased mine! They have deals go live twice a day!

In the market for a baby monitor? This baby monitor on Groupon Deals is only $69! That's a steal if you ask me. I've never heard of the brand, but the reviews look pretty good.

And we can't forget one that EVERYONE can use. $10 Amazon gift card for only $5!!!

There you have it...great deals just for you and I did the leg work on these by finding them. Don't miss out!

Tuesday Glam Party #73

I know Patty's day is behind us, but I love this ruffled shamrock from Polkadots on Parade. Emily had something similar, but not handmade. Turns out I could have done it myself.

Love these easter egg sidewalk chalks from Salt Tree. I'll have to make these next year when Emily is old enough.

Check out these delicious Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Sandwiches from Feeding my Temple. These look so yummy right now.

Can't wait to see what you have to share!

Crockpot Creamy Chicken Taco Chili

I've been making a lot of crockpot meals lately and a good chunk of them have very similar ingredients. This recipe was me putting together several of them because I didn't want to pull up my computer to look up a recipe. Turned out pretty tasty if I do say so myself!

Crockpot Creamy Chicken Taco Chili

Ingredients:
2-4 Frozen Chicken Breasts
1 can of corn
1 can of rotel
1 can of black beans (drain & rinse)
1 - 8oz 1/3 fat cream cheese (or whatever fat content you prefer)
1 package of taco seasoning
1 Small Avocado (Optional)

Directions:
Place chicken in bottom of crockpot. Top with corn, rotel, rinsed black beans, creams cheese & taco seasoning. Mix ingredients. I came back occasionally and stirred, but you can wait to do that until the end if you wish. Cook in crockpot for 4-6 hours on high. Shred chicken with a fork. Serve in bowl. Top with slices of avocado.

Cup of Sanity

This is how I find my cup nearly every day. Around 4pm yesterday I walked past my cup of coffee & wished so badly I could have finished it. Looks pretty empty which means it must have been a good day. Today's cup is half empty. I'd be drinking it now while she naps, but I'm pumping and I left it sitting over there on the table. I can see it and I want it but too late.

Today is one of those days that I could use two cups maybe even three cups. I call my cup of coffee my cup of sanity. I may not get to talk to an adult much of the day, but for sanity sake I must have my cup of coffee. For two minutes maybe, I can think about nothing else but enjoying the sweet savoring taste of my cup of coffee. I know it looks more like a cappuccino, but I promise I've come along way in the amount of creamer I put in there. I love to start my day with my coffee because likely it's been hard to wake up. I normally get my coffee made & have it with my breakfast but before I'm half way done it's time for little miss to go back to sleep. By the time I get back to my coffee several naps have taken place.

In my coffee moments I try to prepare myself for the day. I take those few minutes to just savor the coffee as well as my life. I need to start throwing a little devo in there too. A verse, a cup of Joe & a quick breakfast while little miss plays next to me. Life can't get much better than that. Her sweet smiles get me through the day after that cup of half drunken coffee. If I return to warm the cup you know that smiles have been sparse & mommy is in desperate need of her cup of sanity. Some nights when my husband gets home I grab a cup of decaf (tricking myself to believe if fully caffeinated) & unwind in another room for a few minutes.

Do you yourself have difficulty finishing your cup of coffee? What's your favorite creamer? I'm addicted to Coffee Mate's Italian Sweet Cream.

Hope you finish your coffee today. Wish we could grab a cup together.

Three Months

Dear Emily,

Wow, another month has come and gone. You are now three months old or as daddy likes to say, "it's your quarter birthday!" Every thing you do is so stinkin' cute. Just here in the last few days you've discovered that your voice can be louder. So you find it very fun to talk at the top of your lungs. You especially like to do this in the car or when we try to watch a tv show. Luckily we think it's super cute!! Guess you are going to be a talker just like your mom & dad.

Just this week you also learned that sitting up is the coolest thing in the world. You can't do it alone yet, but you sure wish you could. When we sit you in your boppy pillow you do crunches until someone assists you into the sitting position and then you just smile. You also love sitting up in your bumbo and checking out the world from a new view. You now sit on the bathroom counter and stare into the mirror while mommy gets ready.

If sitting wasn't enough you also love to stand. You smile so big when we let you stand up like a big girl. You straighten up real tall and adorn your face with the most proud little grin around. You think your big stuff!!

You've also learned to grasp onto your toys now. We have to carry around an extra paci because you normally pull your wubbanub out because you want to hold the elephant. We also have two backup elephants for you to grab onto. When you nap in the swing you like to hold one elephant in one hand and your sleep sheep in the other hand. You sure are awfully cute.

You have been much better in the sleeping department but it sure will be nice when you learn that sleeping through the night is way fun. You still have to come to bed with us around 4am for cuddles as the cradle is no longer an enjoyable place to lay your head. We don't mind the extra cuddles, but your cradle misses you during those hours. When it comes to naps you won't take them unless your in my arms or I get a little lucky for the day. You will take about one nap a day in your swing and the rest in my arms. I spoil you...let's be honest!! Don't tell your future siblings how much spoiling you got because pretty sure they won't have this luxury.

We love you more today than yesterday and this will be true tomorrow and every day after that. You are the best thing that has ever happened to us.

Love,

Mommy
